Design Sprint

Design Sprint is a toolkit developed by Google for creating new user-centred concepts within a week. This workshop series is excellent for designing new services and resolving critical issues in web services.

Design Sprint – solve problems and create new digital services efficiently

Design Sprint involves dedicating a whole week to solving a specific business challenge in collaboration with the company’s core team. This method can be applied in various areas such as product development, brand strategy, website redesign, or digital product conceptualisation, regardless of the industry.

During the sprint, experts from various fields are interviewed, and a functional prototype of the service (MVP, minimum viable product) is created in close collaboration with the client. The product is then tested with representatives from the target audience. You can read more about usability research on its dedicated service page.

Why does Design Sprint produce such good results?

Traditional Lean development follows a familiar pattern: a service or product is designed, built, released, and then lessons are learned from experience and user feedback. After that, the process starts over. This method is effective and useful when an idea or concept has been tested and proven to work.

But what if you’re not yet sure if the idea will succeed? Is it sensible to start designing a new product or service if you’re unsure of the outcomes? What if the most expensive and time-consuming stages—the building and release phases of the service—could be skipped in the early stages while testing the idea?

Design Sprint shortens the process by half.

With the Design Sprint method, you move directly from idea development to testing and learning. This allows for preliminary user feedback on the idea without having to build the complete product or service.

If the idea proves to be good, a working demo of the core functionalities is created within a week, allowing production to start with confidence that the concept works. If user feedback indicates that the original idea was poor, significant time and money are saved by not advancing a weak idea into production.
