Redandblue receives carbon neutrality certification from Koodia Suomesta ry

In our strategy for this year, Redandblue has focused on enhancing business responsibility and green coding expertise. Regarding environmental responsibility, we have offset the climate impact of CO2 emissions from last year’s operations, totaling 71 tons of CO2 emissions. The implementation of this strategy is further advanced with Redandblue being awarded the Carbon Neutrality Certification by Koodia Suomesta, reinforcing our position as a responsible organisation.

Offsetting climate impact of CO2 emissions for 2023

Gold Standard-certified projects are funded to support climate protection initiatives that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create sustainable development benefits for communities in greatest need. Each Gold Standard project has a proven contribution to at least three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The project we support involves rehabilitating community water infrastructure, with a commitment from the community to maintain the infrastructure and test water quality throughout the project’s duration. This project reduces the risk of waterborne diseases and the need to boil water for purification, which exposes households to hazardous substances. This saves thousands of tons of firewood annually and reduces CO2 emissions. The project also improves community hygiene and sanitation practices.

Additionally, we have supported Carboreal Oy’s reforestation initiatives. Carboreal’s climate impact benefits come from planting trees in areas unsuitable for agriculture. Their reforestation projects focus on maintaining ecosystem resilience and biodiversity, achieved by planting both spruce and pine trees while preserving naturally growing broadleaf trees.

Carbon footprint calculation

Redandblue’s carbon footprint was calculated using software provided by Data Farm Oy. This software computes the company’s carbon dioxide emissions monthly across various areas by analysing real-time accounting data from the company’s financial management system.

Koodia Suomesta Carbon Neutrality Certification

In line with our efforts in carbon footprint calculation, compensation, and systematic attention to environmental responsibility in both our business operations and the websites we implement, we applied for the Koodia Suomesta ry’s Carbon Neutrality Certification. We are pleased to have recently received this certification. We are committed to promoting the responsibility of both small and medium-sized enterprises and digital services from both environmental and accessibility perspectives.

New eco-friendly and accessible redandblue.fi

We have just revamped our own website. The updated site focuses particularly on eco-friendliness and accessibility. The site defaults to an eco-friendly dark mode, which users can switch to a lighter theme if it improves readability. Animations and scripts on the site can also be disabled if desired, resulting in faster performance and reduced resource usage. Additionally, as a special feature, images on the site can be compressed into pixelated versions, reducing the size of downloadable files.
