Ruokatieto’s brand renewal and digital service

In the Ruokatieto website project, two extensive entities were brought together under one site: the digital services of the Ruokatieto Association and the Hyvää Suomesta (Produce of Finland) label.

Ruokatieto Association promotes Finnish food culture by communicating about domestic food and the food chain, as well as by raising awareness of the Hyvää Suomesta origin label as a symbol of Finnish food products. The right to use the Hyvää Suomesta label has been granted to 350 companies of various sizes for whom the vitality of the Finnish food chain is important. The companies are monitored, and the products are regularly inspected.

Digital service

Starting point

The websites of Ruokatieto Association and the Hyvää Suomesta label had become outdated and layered, both technically and in terms of content. Over the years, the sites had expanded considerably, and the old platform no longer supported efficient content management or usability.

The project began with concept design, where we examined analytics from the old sites, target groups, needs, and goals. During the concept phase, the need to update Ruokatieto’s logo emerged — and ultimately, the entire brand identity of Ruokatieto was redesigned.

Brand renewal

Alongside the digital service renewal, Redandblue carried out a brand renewal for Ruokatieto Association. As part of the renewal, the association’s logo was redesigned. The letter R was developed into a recognizable element that can also be used independently, for example in social media. In addition, typography and the color palette were updated, and an illustration concept was created.

The illustration concept defined the style of Ruokatieto’s visuals. The illustrations are cheerful, colorful, and playful in nature. Redandblue’s graphic designers also produced the illustrations themselves. They are used not only in the digital service but also in brochures, roll-ups, and social media channels.

Technical implementation

The technical implementation was carried out with WordPress. An integration was built with Kehätieto’s membership register, from which the companies and products holding the Hyvää Suomesta label, as well as all members of Ruokatieto Association, are retrieved and updated on the site. The product search allows users to browse thousands of products that meet the criteria of the Hyvää Suomesta label.
