The Association of Finnish Lawyers’ new digital service

The high-performance digital service of the Association of Finnish Lawyers offers its users a pleasant experience with a new brand identity.

The Association of Finnish Lawyers is the common advocacy and service organization for all lawyers and law students. The renewal of the Association’s digital service began already at the end of 2021. The starting point for the project was the new identity, which was naturally to be brought online as well.

With 16,000 members, the Association of Finnish Lawyers is the largest community of lawyers in Finland.

Starting point

The Association of Finnish Lawyers’ digital service had become outdated, and with the renewed identity, the website was also to be modernized. WordPress was chosen as the platform for its flexibility and capacity for further development.

The old site was perceived as organization-oriented. In designing the new service, the focus was placed above all on different target groups and use cases. A usability test was conducted on the user interface prototype, which helped validate the chosen interface solutions.

Design

The design process began with a workshop where the goals of the digital service, user journeys of the target groups, and the boundary conditions for visual design were reviewed. The Association of Finnish Lawyers’ brand book provided clear guidelines for the visual design.

The focus in the design was on ensuring that content of interest to end users would be easy to find. Due to the extensive amount of content, considerable time was also spent on designing the navigation to ensure the right structure and heading levels.

End users were also involved in the design process through testing. Usability testing was carried out with the UseBerry software, where users performed various tasks remotely with the prototype and answered questions. The prototype was also used to support the internal rollout of the renewal within the Association of Finnish Lawyers, as staff members who wished to participate were able to test and comment on the prototype via UseBerry.

Technical implementation

The technical implementation was carried out in WordPress as a Multisite solution. The website was integrated with the Association of Finnish Lawyers’ events in the Eventilla system. Events are fetched from Eventilla and displayed on the site, while the actual event details and registrations are still managed directly in Eventilla.

Previously, Juristimedia’s content was imported from another site into its own content type. In spring 2025, the service was updated so that these contents are now managed entirely within juristiliitto.fi as well.

Members’ portal

In 2025, a Members’ Portal was launched alongside the main website. The portal serves as a dedicated service channel and a comprehensive knowledge base for members. It was implemented within the same WordPress Multisite environment as the main site, enabling content management from a single system – easily and efficiently.

Redandblue was responsible for the entire project, from concept design to technical implementation. The design phase focused on user-centeredness: the goal was to create a clear, easy-to-use, and informative site that strengthens the value of membership and provides genuinely useful content for the association’s members.

On the Members’ Portal, users can view their personal membership information, access details about member benefits and services, and make use of a rich resource library containing statistics, guides, webinar recordings, and training materials. The portal also includes a digital archive of Juristiuutiset magazine, providing members with convenient access to the publication anytime, anywhere.

Juristimedia

In spring 2025, the contents of Juristimedia were integrated into the Association of Finnish Lawyers’ website, bringing material that had previously been hosted on a separate platform closer to the association’s broader digital ecosystem. Redandblue was responsible for the technical implementation of this section.

A dedicated, clearly profiled area was created for Juristimedia within the site, designed specifically to serve article and column content. As part of the multisite environment, Juristimedia’s content is now easy to manage and distribute across the wider site ecosystem, streamlining content production and increasing visibility.

With the renewal, legal professionals can now access expert, topical, and thought-provoking content more seamlessly than ever – all within a single digital service.
